The IMC Guardian is an SOS device which, at the touch of a button, enables two-way audio communication with MPS’s NSI gold-accredited Alarm Receiving Centre, and a Police response when required.
WHAT IS A CONFIRMED EMERGENCY ALARM?
Wear IMC’S Guardian with a lanyard as an emergency alarm, a proximity pass and to display your ID all-in-one. Activating the SOS button signals the Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC). ARC then responds in seconds using the two-way audio feature.
A confirmed device indicates a genuine alarm when activated. Every device has its own URN (unique reference number) so you immediately receive the highest level police response, when requested.
On SOS activation, GPS coordinates are sent to us, the 2-way audio call begins, ARC listens to and records the call, communicates verbally back (if safe to do so for you) with you, tracks your location and escalates for a police response as and when required.
ARC’s high response monitoring station status provides faster access to emergency services. The user needs only to press a button once to ensure that their location and information are immediately available to ARC, the police, your HQ (escalation protocol), security reports, etc.
The roaming SIM automatically connects to the strongest network. Battery life lasts up to 30 hours. The device vibrates to signal Red Alert is active. Fast response security means confidence for lone workers and all staff facing potential danger, requiring assistance.
HOW DO BODY-WORN CAMERAS KEEP STAFF SAFE?
After being applauded as heroes in the pandemic, essential workers subsequently reported a doubling of incidents involving physical and verbal abuse. Due to the rise in cost of living, additional pressure is being felt in retail stores from shoplifters and an actual doubling of physical altercations in just 12 months. In other business areas (such as with Veolia, the leading waste management company), abuse is reported to have arisen due to customers being stuck behind collection vehicles in the streets and through having to queue at recycling centres. When Veolia launched ‘StreetKind’, it included a comprehensive training programme to build a safer workplace, aimed at taking stronger action against those who abused or endangered frontline staff. Key training components also included defusing situations and knowing how to handle each incident. They found that two thirds believed that verbal and physical attacks have increased significantly in the last two years.
Additionally, over two thirds of respondents reported stress. 72% of respondents said they felt safer wearing body cameras. IMC’s body-cameras also provide high-resolution close-up evidence if legal proceedings are required.
WHAT WERE THE RESULTS?
Veolia concluded after their initial trial of the IMC GC550 that the number of incidents reduced to zero! Nobody wants their bad behaviour captured on camera and the cameras acted as a deterrent, not just as a means of recording incidents for potential prosecutions at a later date. Maximum Protection Services (MPS) then supplied around 150 IMC body-worn cameras to Merseyside and Nottinghamshire Household Waste and Recycling Centres (HWRC), working with staff and managers to support and deliver training which helped to deliver their StreetKind programme..
